Yup. IT’S HAPPENING. I AM GETTING BACK INTO COSPLAYING AGAIN
RUN FOR YOUR LIVES No progress shots [yet…], but I have most of the items I need to make the prop… which is the hardest part. [damn my insane attention to detail and insistence on accuracy…] As to what I am cosplaying? none other than Maneater Mildred from Dark Souls! because I get to run around with a sac on my head and terrorize people with a giant knife. Bwahahaha. And I don’t have to feel bad about my weight… As I said, already got most of the items needed to make her butcher’s knife… sadly it won’t be 100% ‘to scale” because it may interfere with my table in the artist alley, [translation: my dumb ass will trip over it and face plant into the table…] but having approx 3ft rectangular block of stiff craft foam should be enough for a base! just need double sided tape, & sand paper and it should be a good base model! Then to save and get some wonderflex [ye gods it’s pricey… TT^TT], gesso, and metallic paint and I should be good to go! Thank god her actual outfit is easy… and I have a decent amount of burlap left… ohohohoho. [just need to hunt down that tutorial on how to make “invisible” sandals and I’ll be all good!]
Hopefully I’ll have it done and ready before the con…otherwise I am going to have a very panic fueled Thursday night… hahaha.
I am also in a “crafty” mood, and am going to try experimenting with something… if it works out, I may do a few things as one offs for my table, or something. We’ll see~! ♥
My entry for the AnimeNEXT 2013 T-Shirt contest. I didn’t win. Guess cuz I couldn’t fit ALL the mascots into the portrait…? Oh well.
Shame I don’t own the rights to this despite losing, I figure it’d have made a cute print to sell.
Now that I have had a couple days to unwind, I can finally make a “proper” post.. hehe. xD
I also got to meet wonderful people, such as Bee-chan, Hemlock Inyx, Shenanagin, TeaTea, and the lovely people behind Geek Mythology: J.J. and Vilsy! I also got to meet tons of other artists and see people from my previous artist alley run such as StrawberryQuincy as well, which was lovely~ ♥.
I think the absolute highlight however was actually getting to meet two people I admire tremendously as artists: Speedking/Maximo and Kevin Bolk + Sara Martinez of Interrobang Studios. geeting to meet these people, talk with them, even get to hug[!] and do art trades with them [got to hug Mr. Bolk himself, got to hug AND do art trades with max… omg.] meant the world to me…
The best part? My friend Trav managed to get an amazing commission from Mr. Bolk, and on Sunday him and Sarah actually came over and checked out my table and chatted with us! I was so unbelievably happy… I think I went all stupid-nervous-fangirl-OMG mode though because I barely remember talking, and if I did talk I made no sense… hurhurr… D:
I also got to meet some tumblr peeps! That made me happy too xD. [DAMNIT BADGER YOU SHOULD HAVE COME BACK I WANTED TO HUG YOU D:< ] And somehow I managed to completely sell out of my “Sailor Daleks” print and TARDIS keychain… and run out of business cards. [hopefully that is a good thing? hee. ^^;]
But all in all? A wonderful experience… and getting to chill with and talk to two artists I greatly admire and respect completely made my weekend. It makes me so happy… oh my goodness.
And while I managed to snag 8[!?] commissions at the convention, I know some people showed interest for post-convention commissions, so I definitely will open those up too! I had a blast doing the commissions I had [Some were incredibly silly and wonderful, I loved it.] and I am sure I will have a blast doing any and all post-convention ones as well! Especially since I can do COLORED stuff now, haha! ♥
Now to work on reviving bakery dewdrop . net… woohoo~
as promised, the finished charm designs! 20 in all and fully laminated~!
And yes, cutting them all out and laminating them all killed my hand… hahahaha. xD;;
I think tomorrow I am going to post “progress shots” of what I got so far for AnimNEXT… because I am feeling artistically needy and selfish and want attention for all of my work. Like a puppy that learned to make poops outside.
I am a hopeless individual.
Also took pics of my garden today. ♥ Lots of stuff is coming up and blooming! I am so excited~. [I also went crazy and planted a buncha flowers, because I WANT COLOR. COLOR EVERYWHERE!] So I gotta upload those too! Show off the ridiculously bright lily’s that are blooming… haha
I am going to have a table for AnimeNEXT’s 2013 Artist Alley!
…now to hope and pray I can get everything printed and ready in time… DX
most of the commissions I did for Anime NEXT 2012. Looking back, I actually had 9 total, I only remembered to photograph 7 of them. haha.
I apologize for the quality of the photographs, my area didn’t have superb lighting and a skilled photographer I am not. But these photos still show off what I did, and I had a blast doing them~.
And yes, my favorite it still the fourth one… Oh Ellis, will you ever learn…? ♥
gonna do a “proper” post convention post in a few days when I am more rested, but man did I have a good time. ♥
Got to meet a lot of nifty people, got to hang out with wonderful friends and have a great time, and got my art noticed. All in all a wonderful weekend, and now to plan for next year/other cons, hehe~!
HEHEHEHE I SAW YOOOOU :DDD!!!
So you did~! I was hoping you’d come back though, I wanted to give you a hug and be silly with ya for a bit! haha… xD;; Now you know what I look like!
I AM ALMOST DONE PREPARING FOR ANIME NEXT!
All that’s left to do at this point: cut out 5x7 mythos prints and revamp my commission form. And BAM. DONE.
And factoring in stuff from last year I will have:
I will also be accepting primarily sketch/line art commissions as well, as well as have a mini portfolio of sorts to showcase other works I have done.
So yeah, EXCITEMENT!
As for dancing naked Zoidburg, I have no regrets. ♥
